The challenge is to prepare the site terrain for the new Iconic £1bn Google Headquarters at King’s Cross in London. The 11-storey building will be more than one million square feet of which Google will occupy 650,000 sqft. It will be home of 4,000 Googlers on completion.
Galldris was awarded the remediation package, this included reduce level dig, Pile probing, Installation of a Pile Mat and Installation of Sheet Piling and associated Ground Anchors.
This was delivered in 3 overlapping stages. Stage 1 was North based. Stage 2 was central based and stage 3 was south based. Key issues for the site included plant and machinery access in the heavily pedestrian area of Kings Cross. The site being next to a live rail, Kings Cross station made us vigilant of the potential contact with buried services required for the operation of Kings Cross.
