Project Introduction

Construction of the £150m redevelopment of Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield, North London has been progressing.

Working under the remit of the Royal Free London NHS foundation Trust involved a new standard of construction quality. Galldris were involved in the creation of all the foundations, basement and utilities and sub terrain linking passageways for the new hospital and special installations for the new energy centre.

The Challenge

The main challenge for Galldris was to carry out it’s role within the grounds of Chase Hospital which remained operational. Galldris subcontract works, included Demolition, Site wide Excavation, Hospital main External works Phases, Temporary Design Works, Kerbing, drainage, utilities installation, Concrete Paving, Granite Paving and Tiling, Site Wide Tarmacing and Soft Landscaping.

Outlook

The hospital will also be the location for most of the Royal Free London’s planned surgery. It will have eight operating theatres including four ‘barn theatres’, specifically designed for orthopaedic work, a dedicated day surgery area and 50 surgical in-patient beds.The site is also being developed to include family homes and apartments set within a landscaped environment. A new primary and secondary school will provide much needed school places for new and existing residents.Construction of the new hospital will be complete in summer 2018. Services will move into the new building in phases over the summer months before the hospital fully opens in autumn 2018.
