This prestigious and significant development is set to become London’s Third business and financial district after the City of London and Canary Wharf.
Ranging over 4.7m sq. ft., this huge, complex site will comprise offices, retail, residential and public realm.
This was the first phase of infrastructure and enabling works, and included a contract to build around 700,000 sq. ft. of office and retail space.
Key challenges included the sheer volume of earthworks, remediation and the disposal of 50,000m3 of spoil, infrastructure, utilities and hard landscaping. And the fact that, as a former dock and a richly layered historical site, particular consideration had to be given to centuries of former building works.
We have huge experience of working on complex and challenging sites and have a particular specialism in the area of sites of historical interest.
Our highly specialist team ensured that rigorous plans were in place to deal with the development of this ambitious project on difficult and marshy terrain.
We constructed a site wide deep well dewatering system which ensured construction could continue unimpeded, despite the close proximity of the dock itself.
The availability of our own specialist equipment and expertise ensured the work was delivered in an extremely timely and efficient manner.
