Old Oak Common was a huge construction project comprising the largest depot in the UK for housing 33 trains and a state-of-the-art 9-track train maintenance building.
Our civils and drainage work for the 240m x 105m shed required an incredible 23,000 cubic metres of concrete to be poured and 3,000 tons of steel installed.
A concrete pour system for all the pit roads eliminated any horizontal joints which lead to Galldris winning a national Defect Free Concrete award and ensuring that the finished product minimised trip hazards.
Innovative construction methodology of temporary works, particularly with regard to the bogie drop pit, eliminated the requirement for significant size propping installation and its associated risks.
Galldris Project Team were awarded, a “Defect Free“
Quality Award for the Reinforced Concrete Works.
